MAY 22 - 25, 2026
Most people don’t realize Mt. Shasta is a glaciated volcano right here in California. Mt. Shasta has 7 named glaciers. On this 3 night/4 day adventure, we’ll camp out on a glacier and learn glacial travel skills and techniques, like crevasse rescue, navigation, self arrest, travel with crampons and an ice axe, and more! We’ll put our skills into practice, skiing and riding in glaciated terrain, and going for a summit attempt!
Not only will this be an unforgettable trip, but it will leave you with a skillset to begin to take on snow camping and glaciated travel on your own! PS - no snow camping experience required!
This trip is for intermediate to advanced backcountry skier/splitboarders. On summit day, we’ll move at a moderate, steady pace of about 1000’ per hour, taking breaks every hour. Terrain options for this trip include moderate to steep slopes above treeline.
** It is not always feasible to ski from the true summit. We will ski from as high as we can, in relation to safety and conditions. Safety is always our #1 priority! There are plenty of options to reach the summit, and to practice skills/ski/splitboard and we will pick a route close to the trip departure to set us up for the best chance of the best conditions we could ask for!
Ski terrain includes open slopes up to 35 degrees, in addition to up to 1500’ of sustained steep skiing between 35 and 40 degrees.
